A Retrospective Review

Skywatcher Explorer 130P

Having recently decided to upgrade my Skywatcher EQ2 mount, I thought it was a good time to look back at the pros and cons along with my experience using the mount. Initial Impressions I remember thinking this looks sturdy being made of solid metal My initial impressions when I opened my scope were good, though never having owned my own scope and only having a brief go on a friend’s scope, I had little to compare it to. My Second Society AstroCamp

AstroCamp

It’s been a very long time since I’ve been out with my scope, for any decent observing. The last time was at the spring AstroCamp way back in April. It felt really good to get out there with my scope, new camera and laptop all together for the first time.   This was the first time I have had chance to really use my DSLR and laptop to test out what I was hoping would be some decent astrophotography. Using my bubble level to level my tripod, then […]

I really didn’t understand how it would be possible to point to any point in the sky without rotating my scope. I found a few videos on youtube that explained the mount, 2 from eyesonthesky.com were very good at explaining thing. While trying things out I noticed that the RA axis […]

Order and Delivery Firstly thanks to First Light Optics (FLO) for great customer service both before and after purchasing my scope, the Sky-Watcher Explorer 130P EQ2. The order process was easy and quick. There was a slight hick-up with delivery as the supplier of the scope sent it to FLO instead of direct to me which added a short delay, but this was not a problem as it gave me time to order and receive my Turn Left at Orion book and 2x Barlow Lens […]
